Feed in the first hour

UNICEF are urging mothers to breastfeed in the first hour. Research suggests that it is not being done and hence there is a delay in getting those protective properties of breast milk into baby. The best way to initiating early feeding is by keeping baby skin-to-skin after delivery for at least an hour. Your baby will be able to smell the colostrum that your body will be producing after the rush of the prolactin hormone. They will start rooting and looking for the breast. Watch this UNICEF video on breast crawling!
