My career in women’s health began in 2007 when I was accepted into the Midwifery program in Dublin, Ireland, my home town. I worked in a busy Dublin hospital for 3 years as a Midwife before transitioning into Fertility Nursing. I met my Canadian husband while he was in medical school in Ireland. In 2014 I made the move to Canada.
Along with my husband, a rural Family Physician, I enjoy working internationally and have provided midwifery care and peri-natal services in Cameroon and most recently worked as a Midwife in the Falkland Islands delivering 6 new Falkland Islanders while assisting in 2 caesarean sections. I have continued with my professional education as I have certification in contraceptive counselling as well as being a Board Certified Lactation Consultant and I am also completing a masters in Public Health.
Currently, I provide breastfeeding support through my private practice in the Sunshine Coast, BC. It is my goal to support and promote breastfeeding and increase knowledge about pregnancy and birth in the community through a professional and supportive relationship.
